WhatsApp has a cache of powerful privacy features. However, contextualizing these features in their users’ lives has always been tough.

At Media.Monks, I took the copy reins (within a small team, led by our fearless CD) on a summer social campaign that needed to communicate the usefulness of these privacy features. We introduced it with a film series entitled, “What Never Happened Next”. The series focused on hypothetical annoying life scenarios and how WhatsApp privacy features curved them before they went down.

My proudest moment came from being the lead writer on the films. For WhatsApp, this meant interviewing cultural consultants and building experiences, characters, and even small details (for example, names in the group chat UI) that felt representative of our global audience and real.
